Space Ace Kimberly finished print

I ended up changing the print a bit to pic colors that printed and looked really awesome.  Some of the stuff I concepted was a little out of the realm of possible print colors and kinda hurt my eyes after a while.

If you really have to have one, and you probably do - you can find her here - http://www.ltdartgallery.com/product/kimmy-borf-space-age-by-andrew-wilson-giclee-print-11-x-14

I did a really small print run because Kimmie is kinda niche. You know?  Space Ace is so unashamedly 80s (which is why I love it, as well as all the Don Bluth stuff ever! <3 br="">

Hope you dig.

Space Ace's Kimberly pinup and lil Borf

I've just finished a pinup featuring Borf and Kimberly from an old school arcade game by Don Bluth called Space Ace.  When I was super young, it was the most beautiful game in existence.  And let's face it, it still looks impossibly cool.  If you don't know about it - you should look it up.

LASER DISC GAMES! Waaaaaaah!

Anyways, prints will be up at the LTD gallery and I'll post the finished pieces after the show opens tonight.

Opens August 29th - 7pm-11pm

It's right next to PAX - on Pike street. 307 E. Pike street.

Be there or be square.

Here's a sketch for you.

I know, not nearly enough rainbows or vomit, right?  But at least there are some panties. WOOT.

The banner and some pics of Emerald City Comic Con

This is how the banner came out.  Figured some peeps might want to see it undistorted and clean like.

It came out rad.  Props to the printers.

Don't lie. You've never seen a better banner.
These are some of my favorite cosplay pics from in front of the booth.

Look at dat awesome banner up there behind everything.  Word?

SO CUTE!

Also SO CUTE.  Look - she's like Mario but sweeter.

Met this girl and her buddies and they were super fly (tm).

These two girls were hilarious and super cool.  Skills at cosplay.

Mother f_cking BOB'S in the house.

Best family ever.

Cosplay "Pin-up" - Rainbow Dash? Bravest Warriors Beth? Samus? Wat!

So I have this dream of mine...

I want to make a giant pinup banner to hang when I do the next Seattle Comic Con next year.

When I say giant, I mean, really quite large... like, taller than my house large.  Like... 30 feet tall giant.

Chances of this happening are slim but just like I always say "You make don't of the shots that you don't take."

So I'm planning for this.

The sketch has to be really tall because it can't be wide - booths aren't that wide, so I probably have ~5-10' to work with and the thinner and taller the better.  It can't be too lude, so I'll be somewhat tame.

What I'm thinking is that it'll look like a giant version of one of my cartoon girls standing right in the con.  Should be really cool to take pictures of.

Here are some sketches.

Rainbow Dash, Samus, Samus Cosplaying as Chun Li, Samus as Sailor Moon.   Then I did some other randoms - Velma, Beth from Bravest Warriors both regular style and as Slave Leia from the Butter Lettuce episode.

I'm not in love with any of these, although I like Samus as Sailor Moon and also Rainbow Dash is kinda too cool for School.

Do let me know if any of these tickle your fancy, or any other part of your mind or body.

cheers,

Wonder Women Puns

Here are a few of the designs available in the blind series.

Pick up a few packs at the LTD shop and make sure to let me know which ones you liked.
http://www.ltdartgallery.com/product/punder-woman-series-by-andrew-wilson-blind-pack

Default Wonder Woman.  This is the base pose I painted on to make the others.

Punker Woman, a more rare one.  I wanted to paint a mowhawk.  Doesn't everybody?

Chunder Woman.  Yes.  She's upchucking a rainbow.  I'm pretty sure girls are made out of rainbows, so it's appropriate.
Thanks for taking a look.  I'll keep posting Punder Women until I'm done, but should the concept take off, I'd love to keep painting more and more.   Do share the LTD shop link with your Wonder Woman fan friends, and I'll keep you up to date on whether a series two is in the cards.

Wonder Women art. Pondering purchasing a print, people? Please procede.

Punder Women.
http://www.ltdartgallery.com/product/punder-woman-series-by-andrew-wilson-blind-pack

I did my two favorite things at once : made puns and painted colorful pinup art.  And who's benefiting from this? You are.  Because prints are for sale.

They're blind packs.  I got the idea from Mike Mitchell and his Super Series + blind box toys.

I'll drop images of the different possibilities in on my blog/tumblr next week.

Please share the art, because well, if it doesn't sell well enough for me to make more, I won't.  And I have about 200 concepts written down including doing more characters like Cat Woman, Super Woman, and Harley Quinn.  Hell, I may even take suggestions for puns.

Prints are 8x10.  More deets are listed at the LTD art gallery site.

Buy 'em here:
http://www.ltdartgallery.com/product/punder-woman-series-by-andrew-wilson-blind-pack

Wonder women was a really good opportunity for me to push my pun agenda.  I tried to paint them all cute with a little bit of sexy and a little bit of grotesque, because it's fun that way.  I cranked the saturation all the way up.

Thanks for stopping by and reading.

April O'neil and her incredible round boobies sketches

Sketches for the April piece.

Look closely and you may notice that on the final I *ulp* painted a nose.  Also it's been pointed out that I'm evolving away from round heads.  (^__^) Don't worry though, I'm not yet moving away from round butts or boobies.  !

Yes.

!

Prints are up on the LTD site.  Limited to only 10.  If  you're interested, follow the rabbit hole:

TMNT April Oneil piece without any Ninja Turtles in it.

WAT you say? A painting of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles without any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Yes. I did do that thing that I said up there.

The thing is, I LOVE the 1980s version of the Turtles with all the toys and colors and weirdness.  The kid's cartoon was just awesome with that theme song and all the crazy ass characters.  <3 br="br" much.="much." so="so">

I haven't painted a pinup piece in two minutes, and I do love boobies so.  I went with April plus references to all of the things I love:

Checklist of awesome:
Baxter Stockman (as a little fly)
Bebop
Rocksteady
Krang
Shredder
Michaelangelo
Donatello
Raphael
Leonardo (their headbands and weapons)
Mousers
Usagi Yojimbo (due to to his crossover)
The foot clan
Splinter
The turtle van
Pizza
April O'neil

The ooze
and an anonymous pre-adolescent turtle.

I even threw in those cheesy Back to the Future glasses from the 80s - the ones that you could buy from Pizza Hut.  Do you remember those? Yeah, they're on Bebop.

It's all in there - plus you get to see April as a big head cartoon chibi with her tits hanging out and far as I can make them without being a complete perv.  Dare I say it is a good day to be a turtle fan.

Jessica Rabbit

In order to promote my Crazy4Cult print (and also myself), I painted a variation on the poster.  It's one of the frames from the movie tweaked out a bit and used as a Jessica Rabbit silhouette to the piece.

She's the best part of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and probably one of the best toons to come from the 80s.

I'm giving away a proof of the original print to a twitter follower. So follow me there if you don't already:  https://twitter.com/artist_andrew

Double Dragon Neon cheats and WTF is Linda wearing?

Ok, so if you haven't tried double dragon neon - it's f_cking awesome.

I played through the whole thing with my GF last night.  It only took a couple of hours. (In my opinion, that's good).  10 bucks for a few hours of XBLA or PS3 game play is great. Short, sweet, to the point. But you can replay that game to unlock stuff if you want.

I discovered several cheats while we played last night.  I wanted to share them with the world as well as my sketch of one of the common enemies: Linda.  She's a dominatrix.  She's hillariously tasteless.  It's pretty rad.

This is my version of the Double Dragon Neon Linda.

Linda wants to take your lunch money and they suffocate you to death with her butt.
Ok, "cheats" or secrets for the game.

When you're in the map you can hold down L1 L2 L3 R1 R2 R2 select and start.  If you hit them all, then you'll hear a robotic crash sound and then you can play the game as a f_cking ROBOT.  You may have to beat the game first on normal. I'm not sure, but I think you can just do that.  Basically hit all your L, R buttons + select and start.

Secondly, when you in the lab level with the punching bag - hit the punching bag 87 times.  This is an homage to 1987. If you don't get it, then you never will.  If you do that - exactly 87 times.  You'll hear a SFX and then you can play through an extra part of the game with weird art.  It's cool.

Thirdly - In the countryside (or maybe the level after that) you will see two gravestones close to each other.  Before you bust them up - duck 7 times inbetween them and you'll unlock a weird thing.  I can't explain it.  It's weird.  But the thing helped out.  I'm not saying any more about that.

I think that's all I found.  But I also recommend when you play leveling up your training wheels and keeping those on through the first playthrough - it will make things seriously easier.  Farm the level 2 boss and spend your upgrade points/cash on that or balance and you'll be straight for the first few play-throughs.

That's all I got for now.

bad ass.

Princess Peach (Birth of Venus) painting is done and prints are up.

The art show was AWESOME.  Thank you to all the artists who participated.  So many awesome video game pieces.

Here's the finish on my Princess Peach Birth of Venus Botticelli rip.

It's Peach popping out of a 3Ds, the original I sold at the show has a transparent layer with some clothing draped over the figures so it's more safe for work. (^__^)  I really really like how it came out.  Email me if you took pics, because I was a dolt and did not do such.

Dr. Daisyo (who the hell is Dr. Mario?) figure

Turn your head and cough.

I made a thing!

Actually, Nate at Squid Kids Ink made a thing.

He asked me to do a mini figure for his 10-doh! (read like ninTendo!) a while back and I don't think I ever posted it.

At any rate, ever since I did it, there have been a few emails from strangers here and there saying that they found my art when they saw that toy and googled the artist.  That's pretty bad ass.

As you can see, I based my art on the oldschool Dr. Mario cart from the nes.  Oldschool nintendo is the sh_t.  I totally ripped the design, but not in a steal it steal it sort of way, but in homage, because I loved the hell out of that thing.  So this should be completely familiar in every way.

Dr. Daisyo reporting for duty.

If she was real and had a logo - this would be it.

Here's a higher resolution picture of the art.  What's up doc!
At any rate, if you like this you can find the figures in various spots.  You can buy cases from Squid Kids Ink's big cartel site, and I've seen Daisyo figures in various places online.  Probably it's best to ask you favorite toy store to buy a case, so you can support the dude who molded this - Nate at Squid Kids.

Darkstalkers Felicia Pinup art

Felicia in all her catlike glory.
The pinup had to be finished for the show in SD.  Several people liked this one over Lara.  MUST BE CRAZY.  Felicia is hot though, I'll give you that.  And the whole cat ear thing is fun.  I gotta go play me some Darkstalkers/Vampire Savior.  That game is fantastic and this art was really fun to make.

¿Don't you just want to pet the kitty?

Also, today is post 777.  It's my lucky post and it's a cat girl! Congratulate me. \(^___^)/

Lara and Felicia flats.

Lara Croft and Felicia from DarkStalkers / Vampire Savior / All that other good sh_t.

I've been painting the f_ck out of these sketches for a show coming up in San Diego.  I'll post the finished pieces once it's all gone down.

"This is Felicia's Air Plane, you hear me? What's that spell? Fap!" shouted Felicia a the top of her lungs.

"Would you, sir, kindly let me raid your tomb? That is, if you wouldn't mind." Coyly asked Lara.
At first I wasn't going to go anywhere with Felicia, but I got inspired to WASTE MY WHOLE NIGHT PAINTING A CARTOON PINUP GIRL.  Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

I do hope you enjoy these and for goodness sake, don't take any of it too seriously.  I know that I don't.

cute fourth of July pin ups

Two pinup sketches.  The first one is based on some ref I found in the google, the inspiration for the second sketch should be obvious. :-|

And not to spoil the surprise, but I picked Lara Croft.  I've already painted her up, but I'm holding off on the post for a bit.

Enjoy your fourth of July, regardless of where int he world you are.

Gum work in progress and how to paint her

I decided to put some time into gum today and also do another one of those shitty How To Paint lessons. (^_^)

Ok. Let's see.

So you've got your line art drawn? GREAT. Now color it. How? Alright, so if you're using photoshop, let's pretend you are, you need to use a multiply on top of the lineart.

Flat colors.  It's just the palette, no real shading or lighting. This part should be easy.
I'm painting an established character, but that doesn't mean I can't inject my own style.  Colors are subtle.  They work together in lots of ways.  I like warm colors.  I actually beat them to death, but.. so what.  I like them.  So this character is all about the warm green  and a little bit of orangey yellow.  <3 that.  She looks like a can of 7-up! Werd?

Alright, so lay down your flats as a multiply.  Be messy, this part if fun.  If you're all conservo, then it's not fun.  Fuck around and try some things.

Then you'll want to give yourself some lighting indication.  Pick the direction that works for the piece and on a new layer, start painting over top of it, MESSY! Get your hands dirty.  Pick the colors and paint lighter and darker versions around those patches to indicate where you want lighting to be.

I added a layer on top of the last one (the multiply flat colors one) and started painting lights and darks.
I usually save a level of lights and darks for the end - the tail very end. That's so the shapes can pop.  This is looking a bit dark, but It's ok, it'll work for those light colors I add at the end to pop it all out.

That's all I've got right now, but I'll go alt-tab right now and work a bit more.  Doubt I will finish this on the weekend as I'm super busy, but I wanted to get started and see what happened.

cheers,
&.

Sleeping Beauty/Fairytale art show

I did two fairy tale prints for the acidfree gallery.  TBH - i think this started the year off right.  I need to start doing full illustrations to grow as an artist. Remember this year's mantra?

NO SH_TTY PAINTINGS THIS YEAR.

Let's do some GOOD art for a change.  Say it with me:
"I will stop flooding the internet with trashy bad art."

These two piece were very difficult for me, but I hope to follow them up with a strong year o fart. (See wat I did there? Kept it classy.)

Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) is hot and all, but I'd totally do Maleficent.
Here's a link to the Sleeping Beauty print:

And here's a link to the Alice Print:

I also don't think that this is the last we'll see of Maleficent.  I may paint her again if I get free time. (scoff sssscccooooffff)

GO PLAY: ABOBO'S BIG ADVENTURE: THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE TO THE NES

ABOBO'S BIG ADVENTURE: THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE TO THE NES

That's a mouth full but the game is f_cking genius. It's free to play but you can donate to pay tribute to such an amazing tribute.  I suggest you go try right now.
This is Abobo. One to NOT be fucked with. His adventure is awesome.

The game isn't hard but it's not easy.  Try it and you'll see.  No need for cheats or passwords or secrets told, because it's easy enough to do on your own.

Just look at these awesome screenshots.  Retarded. Sooooo gooood.

Abobo's Adventure is my favorite indie things right now. That's why I stayed up too late and painted that fan art up thurr.

http://www.abobosbigadventure.com/fullgame.php

What in sam hell are you doing waiting there? GO PLAY IT. It's free and cool (but donate if you can afford it).

Abobo, I didn't work on my painting for you. RAWR.

Cheshire Cat Girl: naked as the day she was born

Meeeooooowwwwrrrrawr.
Ok, so, there's no way she was born wearing sh_t like that, and I didn't really detail all the naughty bits... Cause who needs THAT?

I'm slaving away on the Alice in Wonderland painting, but that doesn't mean there's no time to draw the Cheshire Cat as a snooty naked cat girl.  Quite the contrary, that's exactly what I've done.

Enjoy the sketch, I'll post up a work in progress on the Alice painting when I get a moment.

Also - I want to bring back art director for a day, but I need a good way to deliver it that will also increase traffic/interest in my work.  If anybody reading this has an opinion - THIS IS THE INTERNET - feel free to share it.  The next contest will indeed be designing something that will become a postcard and also a print, so if you're in to that sort of thing, get excited.

Alice in Wonderland: Cheshire Cat girl

Strange how few femlie chesire cat sketches there are in google.  I looked, didn't see many.  So I'm bringing sexy back with this one.
Alice finds herself at the gates to the queen's castle, having been lead there by tweedle stupid and tweedle stupidest.

Looky looky, another Alice in Wonderland thumbnail.  This time I'm getting past kinks and going into the thumbnail stage instead of random character sketches.  I may give it one more shot before I go to colors, buuuut I really like this thumbnail.

I'm ripping the Disney designs but doing it a little different.  Also, this Alice is just the body shapes, I'm not sure what I'll do with her outfit exactly, although it will likely resemble the Disney Alice as well.

I'm aiming for 12x16 with this print, although I may give it crazy resolution so I can print a massive version.

Like it? Hate it? Lemme know.

cheers,
&rew.
