The banner and some pics of Emerald City Comic Con

This is how the banner came out.  Figured some peeps might want to see it undistorted and clean like.

It came out rad.  Props to the printers.

Don't lie. You've never seen a better banner.
These are some of my favorite cosplay pics from in front of the booth.

Look at dat awesome banner up there behind everything.  Word?

SO CUTE!

Also SO CUTE.  Look - she's like Mario but sweeter.

Met this girl and her buddies and they were super fly (tm).

These two girls were hilarious and super cool.  Skills at cosplay.

Mother f_cking BOB'S in the house.

Best family ever.

Moar Sketch

Here's another take on the cosplay concept.  It's a sort of mashup of a bunch of refs into one little package.  And for the nerd impared out there (which can't be many because, well, you're reading an digital art blog) I've listed all of the things I'd like to paint into it.

Luigi, Chun Li, Samus, Pokemon, Cammie, Lara Croft, Zelda - I'm pretty much ripping it all.

I guess you could kind of say like a DJ would do with music, I'd like to do with these characters.

Commence the music.
Those are all game references, but I had to fight to keep a star wars bit out of this.  Oooh - maybe she could be holding a black and red umbrella over her shoulder to mix in a tad of resident evil.

Hopefully I'll find time, of which there is little presently, to fill out the rest of the piece.

As always, your comments are welcome and very much appreciated.

be seeing you,

Cosplay "Pin-up" - Rainbow Dash? Bravest Warriors Beth? Samus? Wat!

So I have this dream of mine...

I want to make a giant pinup banner to hang when I do the next Seattle Comic Con next year.

When I say giant, I mean, really quite large... like, taller than my house large.  Like... 30 feet tall giant.

Chances of this happening are slim but just like I always say "You make don't of the shots that you don't take."

So I'm planning for this.

The sketch has to be really tall because it can't be wide - booths aren't that wide, so I probably have ~5-10' to work with and the thinner and taller the better.  It can't be too lude, so I'll be somewhat tame.

What I'm thinking is that it'll look like a giant version of one of my cartoon girls standing right in the con.  Should be really cool to take pictures of.

Here are some sketches.

Rainbow Dash, Samus, Samus Cosplaying as Chun Li, Samus as Sailor Moon.   Then I did some other randoms - Velma, Beth from Bravest Warriors both regular style and as Slave Leia from the Butter Lettuce episode.

I'm not in love with any of these, although I like Samus as Sailor Moon and also Rainbow Dash is kinda too cool for School.

Do let me know if any of these tickle your fancy, or any other part of your mind or body.

cheers,
&Rew.

Bottleneck Gallery's 3nes show pieces, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid stacking dolls

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I DRAW THESE FOOLS FROM OLDSCHOOL NINTENDO?

I make pieces like this all the time.

I try to do it a little differently each time.  You know, grow a bit?  Well here are a set of prints available at Bottleneck.

It's ganon again! Againon?

Also, several news sites have been re-posting my work, which is awesome! But my last name is Wilson, not Fourthwish.  Although that would be really cool, I have to interject. Thanks for the coverage.

I love me some Matryoshka dolls.  It's been suggested that I should actually make these.  MAYBE I WILL! I'll show you!

(probably, I won't...)

Nintendo based Stacking Dolls (Metroid)

Metryoshka Dolls, if you will

Metroid inspired artwork for an upcoming show at the Bottleneck Gallery.  We've got lil zero suit Samus, the power suit, and the Metroid ship - IDK what she's claled.

I also tacked super mario brothers and zelda as a set of stacking dolls.  I'll post them up once the show goes live or the gallery pops the pics up with links to purchase if you're interested.

Samus is the MAN! Errrr, wait wait.

No lair is complete without it's own mother-f_cking-brain. Can you dig it?

Samus rocking the classic sizzle.  If she knew me, she'd totally wanna mate.  Er date... er... whatever.

Samus again, in her zero suit.  Ya - totally painted on. Yes, I did paint ANOTHER CAMEL TOE. So sue me.
(Don't sue me).
Oh what a surprise.  I've painted Metroid again.  How many more times mu st I brave the classics? How many innocent pixels must die to satiate my hunger for Samusy spandex suits and little hidden energy tanks?  Hint : It's billions.

Video Game art from me? Never! Mario, Zelda, and more Samus

It's that time again...Time for me to do more video game art.  These are all sketches for an upcoming piece I've just finished. Although there are still finishing touches to be done - as a commenter recently said, POST MORE YOU BASTARD.

I'll accept your challenge, and I will answer by being slightly more active than I was last month.

Let's start with a host of sketches.  So the concept was to put everybody on a little pedestal made out of a piece of the game they were featured in.  Good guys on the left, supporting or alts on the right, and evil bastards in the middle.

I love to paint characters standing in space, so it really worked out for me.  I haven't been into that this month as much as last, eh.

Mario, Bowser in the Clown Car, and Mario's tall ass brother, Luigi

Samus in her battle gear, MB ALA Metroid I, and Zero Suit Samus

Link - Grrrrr, Ganon - as a pig and not some weird red head, and Zelda as an archer princess (or some sh_t)
I hope you like the art.  I'll keep at it and try to get better, so that the next posts will be good. Ok?

thanks for stopping by,
&Rew.

Metroid Color Wheel Print available

You may remember this image a little while back, well I'm going to do prints of it to help finance building the mother brain sculpt.

It's key moments from the original Metroid on NES, wrapped around a color wheel with a Metroid in the middle.

Prints are 12x16 (a standard frame size) on watercolor paper. They're signed and numbered and will be hand embellished. That's a fancy way of saying that they'll all have hand drawn art on them. I'm cutting the edition at 20, so that's all there will ever be. $30 gets you a print shipped.

If you're interested click the link:

Make Samus proud and buy a print.

Metroid's Samus figure

I finished the Samus sculpture! Woot woot. It took forever and got in the way of a whole barrel of life, but was worth it.

Here are some pics recently snapped up:

I'm calling it "The Hunter" and it's going in the Gallery 1988 video game inspired show.

More photos can be found on my Tumblr, here:
http://theforgottenkingdoms.com/

There's a very high likelihood that I'll be creating a mother brain once I'm done with a few paintings that are in progress, if I can afford her and I don't go nuts.

Sexy Samus Aran from Metroid

I finished the backside today. Here's a large version and an in context version. The roller derby girl thing is still present and I used the hairpin from Metroid other M. That metroid is borderline nonsensical the way I just kinda threw parts around, but it works.

Sexy Samus Aran is sporting shorts that are about 3 sizes too small, just as you would expect. I don't usually get complaints though, so I'll carry on making my video game girls retardedly under dressed and pouty lipped.

The final painting is pretttty much done, but I've got to do some last minute touches and then I'll post it up.
