Winner(s) + Mario Sisters

First draw: The_Flipsider
Runners up: PhineasK Turicus7 Grungymingo

Keep checking the blog for more contests. Mayhaps next month before my next art show.

I included runners up. Figured I'd send out some small prints. I'll be contacting you all for your addresses. As for those of you who ordered prints. I'm getting shipping materials shortly so they don't get bent up. Afterwards I'll send them out and let you know through email.

I'm working on a painting for another art show. I'm going to try to do something large like a 4 foot canvas version of this:We'll see how it goes - not much time till the show and that's allot of paint!

cheers,

2 things

Thing 1.

I've decided to give away the Samus prototype in order to promote my blog. I'm not good at marketing my art, just at making it, so I don't really know how to do this.

I imagine a drawing is cool, random, and fun. So here's how it goes: If you retweet this tweet, I'll put you in a drawing to give away my only Samus prototype:
http://twitter.com/#!/artist_andrew/status/115240107186978817
(I hope that link works)
Maybe that spreads the word about my art and you might win a free small sculpt. It's about 1/3 the size of the final and has been glued together from some breaks, but it's still pretty cool.

Follow me on twitter so you can be up on all the new art or you can follow the blog. All equate to the same wacky artness.

Oh yah, and while you're hanging out here, feel free to order the Samus Color Wheel print.

Thing 2. I made some Team Fortress silhouettes in the background there today. Being crafty for no reason. It's just fun.

Now I've got to get back to my paintings, so that I can do another AD4AD sometime soon.

be seeing you,
&Rew.

SQUID KIDS AVAILABLE - Tonight

Tonight at the video game show at Gallery 1988, Squid kids is dropping these gold cart figures:

www.gallery1988.com and www.squidkidsink.blogspot.com for details.

I did the art for this set a while back and it's come to fruition!

All the squid kid stuff is hot, so Go there and get some if you're in LA!

They're gold. They're a parody of Zelda, They're little nes cart! What more can you ask for? Very little. Verrrry little.

Metroid Color Wheel Print available

You may remember this image a little while back, well I'm going to do prints of it to help finance building the mother brain sculpt.

It's key moments from the original Metroid on NES, wrapped around a color wheel with a Metroid in the middle.

Prints are 12x16 (a standard frame size) on watercolor paper. They're signed and numbered and will be hand embellished. That's a fancy way of saying that they'll all have hand drawn art on them. I'm cutting the edition at 20, so that's all there will ever be. $30 gets you a print shipped.

Make Samus proud and buy a print.

Metroid's Samus figure

I finished the Samus sculpture! Woot woot. It took forever and got in the way of a whole barrel of life, but was worth it.

Here are some pics recently snapped up:

I'm calling it "The Hunter" and it's going in the Gallery 1988 video game inspired show.

More photos can be found on my Tumblr, here:
http://theforgottenkingdoms.com/

There's a very high likelihood that I'll be creating a mother brain once I'm done with a few paintings that are in progress, if I can afford her and I don't go nuts.

be seeing you,

Not quite yet

This is a spraypainted piece from last night:
And another version of it from sometime later:(the middle is me, the left and right belong to other coworkers) The backside is also loaded with awesome art, but the artists requested to remain in the shadows for the time being.

I'm new to painting with cans, but it's awesome the things house paint can do not on houses. If I ever own a house, I'm totally painting the outside like that. I promise. Yeehaw.

I'm learning how to paint with a few coworkers who will for now remain nameless. You can expect more awkward pieces and weird color combos in the immediate future should I be happy enough with them to post them on the interwebs.

And for any of you looking for it Metroid is coming! Well, the Samus figure is almost done but I don't have any good pics and it's still in a few pieces and minus the base.

cheers,
&.

More work before the final paintjob.

Here I am in the studio I share with the super talented Wade Schin with all the things you need to wet sand.
And here's another buddy's shed where I was drinking guiness and cider and spraying primer while my friends spray painted on canvases outside.

Tonight I'm going to apply layers of paint, then tomorrow any finished followed by the glue (if I have time). Plan is to be wrapped up by Saturday so it can be mailed to the art show where the piece will be housed and sold (maybe?) for BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

Sanded Samus

I spent today sanding all the joints. When I received the pieces, about 80% fit perfectly, 10% fit if I forced it, and 10% was terribly off.

Next I wet sand everything and primer it. I'm not sure how long that takes but I'm thinking the rest of this weekend is going to be spent with water and super fine sand paper.

Here's a photo of the final size vs. the prototype:
Once I get a wooden base done - everything will stand about 9" tall.
