too sunburned to talk about it - andrew
1. cable guy came. he put a "booster" on the cable outlet. now everythig is supposed to be dandy. i'm relatively pleased by that and the net has not yet gone bad, so maybe all is well. i am saddened that such an option was never tried in the past with complaints to time warner, but all is well that ends that way i guess.
2. i'm sun burned so bad i really can't handle being awake but i can't handle laying down. it's pretty awesome. my back and shoulders look like RGB 204 53 62. not so much painful as it is annoying and HOT. totally worth it - i got to see vanessa in a bikini all day today. <3 <3 <3

kahoots - andrew
i'm going to a western bar or something... some place with line dancing and leather slapping...
this is going to truly be an interesting evening.
the rumor is that you have to tuck your shirt in at the "club".
¿what gives? i'm a slob, i don't want to project a false image.
it's not that i hate country music, it's just that i would rather poke holes into my chest plate with a rusty screwdriver than be locked in a room with a country soundtrack.
i'm going because old friends are there and it will be a good trip down memory avenue.
maybe i'll come home drunk and do a western girl post it pet.
this is "derwolley".
enjoy your friday night and don't drive drunk.

i can see my house from here - andrew
First thing is first: i hate time warner cable.
I've been trying to load this page for nearly 15 minutes. Time warners cable's cable internet which should be running and a hundred megs a second or whatever - took and takes every other day about half an hour for me to post a simple line of text and a 256 by 256 jpeg.
i don't even remember what i was originally going to write.
on saturdays and sundays, typically the internet doesn't even work at all, which is rad since i'm home and trying to use it in the mornings.
i love resetting the modem twelve or thirteen times in order to see if the "online" light is going to come back on. it's this radical guessing game in which i'm supposed to pay money to find out if my internet is going to work.
i called them yesterday and threatened to bail and they gave me a "three week credit" which i laughed at. i told the guy on the phone that it's fantastic that they were goig to bill me for a technician to come out unless i paid them 40 bucks for "insurance" when all i really wanted to do was cancel the account and buy internet that works.
i really wish i had a hobby that i could escape from time warner to do.
this is such a headache.
i guess i'll post results to the technician coming out on saturday.
here's the scoop -
if there's nothing wrong, i have to pay them money because i wasted his time.
if there's something wrong, he fixes the problem and i pay them to keep pouring cable into the tiny straw they call a cable modem.
¿anyone care to wager?
either way, i've already wasted my time, and paid them hundreds of dollars to get this far.
i think originally i was going to post what a great day it was and how i couldn't wait to get online to post this new ugly ass post it pet.
i figured i've been doing too many pretty girls lately so i should create a strange one... and by "doing", i mean, "painting" not "doing it" which means "sex"... not that there's any problem with not doing pretty girls becuase it should be no casual action, but i thought i would clarify. and who knows who will be reading this thing.
vanessa keeps asking me to give her this web address since i told her i was making a blog, and now i'm scared that i may have said something either too weird or too offensive in here so i can't give it to her.
what a rant.
enjoy your evening, i'm going to go buy some mexican food around the corner.

the stories we write every day - andrew
hong said he'd post today, which is cool because i'm sure you're all missing his pieces. i know i am like crazy!
so everybody clap... if you all clap and believe, David Hong will appear and post a wordless entry with an awesome painting!
^___^
we do believe in hong, we do.
"another kind of blue"
by the way, when you look at this one, listen to the first two minutes and twenty six seconds of "Space Lion" on the first C0wboy Bebop CD.

offbeat - andrew
today something was off.
nothing seemed to be going the right way. today was bad.
the kind of bad that you can't pay for.
i couldn't put my finger on what was wrong but it was like i had this laundry list of items to shop
for or events to attend and i kept on walking past or missing them.
for example::
- i brought my art bag with supplies to draw while i ate breakfast with a friend, but after parking and walking three blocks, i realized that i had left the supplies in my car.
- i was supposed to meet with some friends for an early dinner at five but forced them to reschedule for four and then four thirty and then i ended up being ten minutes late.
- instead of shopping next door to where i dined i drove all the way home and then right back to that same location three hours later.
- an item i was looking for was out of stock in every location that existed and could not be purchased at any cost. i instead went with an inferior product albeit at a lower price.
- i offended a fellow artist by calling to attention a strange attribute in his work which then cause him to pout in a half serious fashion for several hours.
- i forgot to brush my teeth and only remembered when burning my mouth on dinner which was much much too hot.
today i am cranky and sleepy and pretty much misserable and have been complaining constantly all weekend. i really hope that my weekend guest had a good time.
i refused to make a new post-it pet but then was called on it.
i am so cranky that i'm boring myself.
let's hope that tomorrow is more gooder, or that some good music can cheer me up.
I think i'm getting old or something as all my talkative posts are cranky and the potentially good ones i just leave blank.
i promise anyone who reads this that if i have one good thing happen to me, i'll share that one too, but for now you're going to have to deal with all the sh!tt!ness my blogging rants.

how dry i am - andrew
beers at biersch,
tokyo tea at the standard,
gin and tonic at the chateau rooftop,
dirty martinis on the rooftop,
more martinis in the bar.
it's twenty four hours later and i'm still hung over, after mexican food and enough water to drown a whale.
¿does that make any sense?
i do love benig an alcoholic, but this headache is one of those ones that begs you never to drink anything other than orange juice and water for a week and a half. Then again i hear that beer is a good cure for a strong hangover.
what an awesome thursday night. i highly recommend one like it.
^___^
this is "furff" :: proof that alcohol does not affect an art career in a positive way.

so far we have over one hundred posts on this blog. i really enjoy being able to see new david hong art almost daily and he's getting really really good. it has been a challenge for me to keep up with this thing and sometimes i feel like i would rather die than have to make another one of my self imposed deadlines, but it is practice and in the end i get to relax and have a good time looking over the collection. i hope anyone reading this is enjoying the art and the strange stories.

tragedy is relative - andrew
today i was walking through the halls of the office after having spoken with my boss about a very pressing matter.
i had just filled a white plastic cup with free animal crackers from a large plastic bucket that sits atop one of the tables in the kitchen and i was walking back towards my desk thinking about shaders and normal maps and artists' unions and poly counts.
the day had thus far gone swimmingly - no fender benders, no milestones, no dropped quarters, no waking up on the wrong side of the bed. if the sky had shown through the office roof, it would have been a bright bright blue and little birds would have rested at the edge of my vision singing sweet melodies while the sun waved and offered me two scoops of raisin bran, or whatever the hell the sun is supposed to offer you...
such a good day.
i should have known better. on my best days - too my worst tragedies.
i bit into a cookie, i think he was a hippo, sideways and vertically, so that his head was just under my two front teeth and his tail and ass rested on the crest of my lower teeth. like a tin soldier to face his sweet end, posed and perfect, unwavering and emotionless - his brittle body stood rigid for a moment just before shatering into several tiny pieces collecting in my mouth. This was fine.
However, i was not prepared for the light dust of animal cracker that blew out from the hippo's collapse; right as i was passing by Hethe and Shelly's office door the dust blew up and back on a wisp of the wind.
Small broken animal pieces entered the moist whites of my eyes and clouded my vision for just a moment, stinging and stinging and stinging while congealing and stinging my eyes.
Instantly ruined, I nearly fell to the ground, taken down by a single small hippo cookie. My entire universe collapsing in on itself to the black hole of hippo bits and star dust eye irritant.
ok ok ok. i'm going to stop now.
it wasn't that bad, but i felt like writing some drama into the blog today and for practical intent and purpose - it did go down like that. i do like me some weird food tragedy stories.
take care and do sleep well.

feeling green lately - andrew
if i had a dollar for everytime somebody flaked on me, i would be able to buy new friends.
speaking of green, here's "gemerald".
most of his friends flake on him too, but he doesn't care because he has no heart nor soul nor spirit nor concerns nor responsibilities nor deadlines nor vertical leap nor sickness nor hangovers.
i am green with envy.
do enjoy.
i'm going to go see "classe tous risques" at the indie theater.

inch by inch - andrew
i keep checking one of my friend girl's blogs every day to see if she has posted anything new. she is one of the best artists that i know and very very modest about her talents. however, she is also very inconsistent and is lacking a concrete style.
i will keep checking daily to see if she expands her body of work and also to see if there are themes drawing her pieces together. i am very excited to see how she grows and to see that common theme - the way many great artists have recognizeable art.
it is really great to watch an artist become.
i am inspired with every new picture.

no nose is good nose - andrew
there is a dead skunk outside my window.
this is not necessarily true.
perhaps there is a dying skunk or a perfectly live one, but one thing is for sure: his insides are on the outside.
whatever it is that makes a skunk skunk is permiating the air so heavily that i might as well have my nostrils plugged into somebody's @&&hole.
this is awful.
there you are, reading a blog from the safety of your sweet smelling abode and here i am, trapped in a prison of scent, going out of my mind. this is the kind of smell that, if it were a sound, would have begged van gogh to cut his own ear off.
¿what would i use to cut off my nose? i suppose a pair of scissors from the kitchen. i might could use one of my roommate's cooking knives, but that seems a tad bit rude. a pair of scissors might altogether go wrong as well.
¿how much of a nose must be cut off before you can no longer smell? i wonder that about ears too. i feel like if i had the external of my ear removed, that i could still hear, but that it would be much less productive hearing. which is to say that i could probably still hear, but not really pick out the specific direction from where the sound would be coming.
not hearing would be awful, for if not, i could not listen to all this awesome music.
i'm going to end on that note. particularly - Wyclef Jean's "Mona Lisa" from his carnival album. Do buy and listen to it, cause it kicks much @$$ like my house currently smells like somebody busted it.
"mitch stick" for some reason, this shape popped into my head while i was driving home from dinner last night.
